CNBC has taken some warmth for its framing of the U.S. airstrike in Baghdad that led to the loss of life of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
Soleimani, the pinnacle of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Pressure, was described by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as being simply as harmful as ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who killed himself throughout a raid by U.S.-led forces in Syria this previous October.

As U.S. officers confirmed Soleimani’s loss of life late Thursday, the enterprise community tweeted: “America simply took out the world’s no. 1 dangerous man” above a hyperlink to a bit by political and financial analyst Jake Novak.
The cable community was blasted on social media and accused of being a “company propaganda machine.” Others slammed CNBC for the headline’s “infantile” nature.
“CNBC has nothing to do with ‘journalism’; it is a company propaganda machine for the US [sic] empire and nationwide safety state. It manufactures consent and sells battle. Its purpose is to not inform or educate the general public; its purpose is to become profitable. And imperialist battle may be very worthwhile,” The Grayzone assistant editor Ben Norton wrote.
He continued: “Soleimani has an 82% approval ranking in Iran, and is a hero in a lot of the Center East as a result of he defeated ISIS[.] In the meantime US consumer regimes like Saudi Arabia supported ISIS, after the US gave delivery to it. The US empire is the world’s precise no. 1 dangerous man.”
“For anyone thinking about how a reckless assassination that may result in an apocalyptic battle could possibly be redeemed and framed by media as a jingoistic and harmful achievement, here is the way it begins,” political analyst Jared Yates Sexton reacted.

The headline has since been modified to “Op-Ed: America simply took out a person many thought of the world’s No. 1 dangerous man” with CNBC providing a “clarification.”
“This headline has been up to date to replicate that that is an opinion column,” CNBC added to the underside of the piece.
