NEW YORK (AP) — Former Obama housing secretary Shaun Donovan has filed papers to run for mayor of New York Metropolis in 2021.
Donovan, 54, registered a marketing campaign Monday to succeed Mayor Invoice de Blasio, who by legislation can’t run for a 3rd time period.
Donovan, a local New Yorker, served as federal secretary of Housing and City Improvement from 2009 to 2014 and as director of the Workplace of Administration and Price range from 2014 till Democratic President Barack Obama left workplace in 2017.
Previous to that Donovan served as a deputy assistant HUD secretary underneath President Invoice Clinton and as commissioner of the New York Metropolis Division of Housing Preservation and Improvement underneath Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
