Religion and Energy, a brand new political motion committee with ties to Republicans, formally launched on January 29 and shortly positioned a $1.56 million broadcast advert within the Democratic major, based on filings with the Federal Election Fee and the Kantar Media’s Marketing campaign Media Evaluation Group.
The advert goals to spice up Smith over Cal Cunningham, who has been endorsed by the Democratic Senatorial Marketing campaign Committee and has raised considerably extra money.

CNN has reached out to the Smith marketing campaign for remark.
The winner of the Democratic major will face Republican Sen. Thom Tillis, who might choose to run in opposition to Smith. Her marketing campaign had available lower than $100,000 on the finish of 2019. Cunningham’s marketing campaign, in the meantime, had greater than $1.7 million.
The advert will play from Thursday until February 19 in main media markets within the state, together with Charlotte, Greenville, Raleigh and Greensboro.
